The romance between North Carolina Tar Heels football head coach Bill Belichick, 74, and beauty queen Jordon Hudson, 25, is reportedly over after a breakup they kept private for months. TMZ reported that the couple secretly separated “late last year.”

The split occurred well before several public appearances that presented a united front. A source told the outlet that Belichick and Hudson are no longer dating but remain “committed to their business partnerships and remain close friends.”

Even after ending their romance, Belichick and Hudson continued appearing together without publicly revealing the change in their relationship. Their apparent effort to keep the breakup from making waves held until the new report surfaced.

The pair attended several events, including the Kentucky Derby in May. They also appeared at the UNC football game against Syracuse in Chapel Hill, North Carolina, on Oct. 24.

The news arrived after Belichick rejected widespread claims that Hudson was managing his football coaching career. During a Wall Street Journal interview last month, he dismissed that idea as “ridiculous.”

Those claims had gained attention because the former cheerleader was often seen on the sidelines during Belichick’s games. Hudson also drew notice when she stopped questions about how her relationship with the football coach began.

Belichick, the former New England Patriots head coach, called the suggestion that Hudson was excessively involved in his coaching responsibilities “just a flat-out lie.” He acknowledged that she provided some assistance, adding, “There are some things that she helps me schedule or look at.”

The scrutiny intensified during Belichick’s interview with Tony Dokoupil for “CBS Sunday Morning” in April 2025. When Dokoupil asked how Belichick and Hudson’s relationship started, Hudson interrupted from off camera and bluntly declared, “We’re not talking about that.”

Dokoupil later described Hudson in a voiceover as a “constant presence” during the interview. Her intervention quickly became a central part of the attention surrounding the televised conversation.

Belichick was also asked during the interview how he dealt with criticism of the couple’s age difference of nearly 50 years. “I’ve never been too worried about what everybody else thinks,” he replied.

The coach followed that response with a straightforward explanation of his approach to the relationship. “Just try to do what I feel like is best for me and what’s right,” he said.

After the interview, Belichick released a statement saying he had been “surprised when unrelated topics were introduced” during an appearance intended to promote his book, “The Art of Winning: Lessons from My Life in Football.” He said the situation “occurred several times.”

Belichick described Hudson as someone with whom he shared a “personal and professional relationship.” He said she intervened to “reiterate that point to help refocus the discussion” after questions moved away from his book.

He also alleged that the finished segment used “selectively edited clips and stills from just a few minutes of the interview” to create an inaccurate impression. Belichick said the presentation attempted “to suggest a false narrative” that Hudson had tried to control the conversation.

Despite that public defense of their relationship, the latest report says the romance had already ended late last year. Belichick and Hudson allegedly first met on a plane in 2021 before beginning to date a few years later.
