Conservative pundit Scott Jennings offered an enthusiastic defense of President Trump’s extraordinary 1,300-word Truth Social attack on late-night comedian Bill Maher. During a Monday night CNN appearance, Jennings described the lengthy presidential message as “miraculous.”
As The New York Post reported, Trump, 80, published the record-setting post Sunday night after Maher, 70, criticized his low approval ratings. The comedian had recently joined Trump for another dinner at the White House.

Jennings, 49, addressed the uproar on CNN’s “NewsNight,” which was hosted that evening by Michael Smerconish. He explained the unusually expansive post by describing the president as “very loquacious.”
“It’s sort of miraculous that the president of the United States issues such detailed missives about all sorts of things going on in our culture,” Jennings said.
Trump’s post called Maher a “complete, total loser” and a “sleazebag.” The president also claimed the comedian “looked like hell” when they recently had dinner together.
Jennings presented the broadside as another display of Trump’s candor with the public. He noted that the president also gives lengthy answers when members of the press approach him with questions.
“He [Trump] does the same thing in front of the press, when they come and ask him questions, he goes on at length about things. You can call Donald Trump a lot of things; one thing you can never say about him is we don’t know what’s on his mind,” Jennings said.
CNN commentator Van Jones, 58, jumped into the conversation with a cutting quip. “What’s left of his mind,” Jones said.
“Oh, come on,” Jennings shot back before offering his own unexpectedly warm assessment of Maher. Despite Trump’s anger, Jennings said he has come to appreciate the HBO host and his criticism of the political left.
“And by the way, I have to say, I kinda like Bill Maher. I mean, Bill Maher has been basically a rational actor,” Jennings said.
“I used to not like him that much, but he has become a rational actor trying to tell the left, like my buddy Van here, pull them back from the brink of insanity, a very rational guy, so I don’t know why he’s so upset with him,” Jennings continued.
Scott Jennings on President Trump’s 1300-word RANT LASHING OUT at Bill Maher after their second White House Dinner: “I mean, our president has a lot to say about this. I don’t know [why], but I think it’s sort of miraculous that the president of the United States issues such detailed missives about all sorts of things going on in our culture. He does the same thing in front of the press when they come and ask him questions. He goes on at length about things. You can call Donald Trump a lot of things. The dispute followed Friday’s episode of Maher’s HBO show, “Real Time.” Maher claimed Trump “has the lowest approval rating of any midterm candidate ever” and joked that their Oct. 15 dinner, which lasted four hours, exceeded Katie Zacharia’s press secretary stint, which lasted five days.
Maher also complimented Trump’s conduct during their White House conversation. “When he’s in that White House, he looks you in the eye, he never interrupts, he never gets mad, he listens,” Maher said.
The comedian pushed back forcefully against critics who condemned his decision to meet Trump. “Yeah, I did it again, b–ches,” Maher said.
“I know! I’m the bad guy because I go and say face-to-face to the man the things you write in articles he’ll never read, but okay. You know what? F–k you. I like these dinners,” Maher added.
Trump responded with his longest Truth Social post ever, according to Factbase. At more than twice the length of the previous record holder, the message opened with an all caps assault on Maher and his HBO program.
“Let’s talk about this COMPLETE AND TOTAL LOSER, Bill Maher,” Trump wrote. “He’s got a Low Rated Show on equally Low Rated HBO, which was once, long ago, a Network of Quality and Excitement — But that’s all gone. It’s not ‘HOT’ anymore!”
Trump then turned his attention to producer Chuck LaBella, who worked with Maher on the former ABC show “Politically Incorrect.” Trump claimed LaBella repeatedly pushed him to arrange the White House dinners with Maher.
“Maher’s friend and business associate, Chuck LaBella, was also a friend of mine, worked on The Top Hit Show, The Apprentice, as a ‘gofer’ and, because of the success of that show, Number One and Top Rated on many weeks, with the Finale’ being among the Top Shows of the Year, he was automatically and quickly brought up through the Ranks of NBC, along with everyone else associated with that Historic ‘Happening,’” Trump said.
