An Arizona mother fought off a man who allegedly entered her home, attacked her, and kicked her one-year-old daughter in a frightening confrontation captured partly by security cameras.

Bella Torres said the encounter unfolded last Friday at her home in Buckeye, Arizona. She alleged that she had never seen the man before he appeared at her doorstep and asked to use the restroom, as reported by The New York Post.

The seemingly ordinary request quickly turned violent, according to Torres. She said the stranger began charging toward her before she could respond to his question.

“All he says is, ‘Can I use your restroom?’ And, as he says restroom, he starts to charge at me and grabs my neck,” Torres told 12 News.

Torres alleged that the man grabbed her by the neck and forced her to the ground inside the residence. Her young daughter was also present during the alleged attack.

The mother said the intruder kicked her daughter and demanded that Torres remove her clothes. Despite being forced down, Torres managed to get outside and scream for help.

Reaching the exterior of the home did not immediately end the confrontation. Torres continued fighting the suspect while trying to block him, and cameras installed at the property recorded part of the struggle.

The footage captured Torres confronting the man as the chaotic encounter continued. “What the f–k is wrong with you?” she can be heard saying while attempting to stop him.

The suspect then made a blunt statement about his condition. “I am on drugs,” he said, according to the security footage.

He also offered an unusual explanation for why he had allegedly entered the home and attacked Torres. The man claimed that Torres’s boyfriend had sent him and told him the encounter was wanted.

“He told me he was into this,” the suspect said. His explanation did not resolve the glaring problem that Torres said she had never encountered him before.

Torres attempted to test the man’s claim by asking him to provide her husband’s name. The suspect did not answer her question, according to the account of the confrontation.

The encounter ended only after Torres’s husband returned home in his car. Once he arrived, the suspect ran away from the residence.

Although the man fled, the security footage gave authorities evidence from the scene. Police used the surveillance video to help identify and arrest a suspect within 24 hours of the alleged attack.

Authorities identified the suspect as Adrian Ayala, 20. The rapid arrest followed a confrontation in which Torres had been forced to defend both herself and her young child inside and outside the home.

Ayala later appeared for an arraignment. During that proceeding, his attorney claimed that Torres’s husband had invited Ayala to participate in a consensual role-playing scenario.

That claim echoed the explanation Ayala had offered during the confrontation, when he alleged that Torres’s boyfriend had sent him. Torres had challenged that story by asking for her husband’s name, but Ayala allegedly remained silent.

The judge addressed the attorney’s argument during the court proceeding. According to the report, the judge stated that even if the husband had agreed to such a scenario, that would not provide Ayala with a valid legal defense.

The judge’s statement left no room for the husband’s alleged consent to erase the absence of Torres’s consent. The source reported the judge’s position specifically in response to the argument presented by Ayala’s attorney.

Ayala was released on a $25,000 secured appearance bond following the arraignment. He was expected to return to court later in the week, according to the news outlet.

The case centers on Torres’s allegation that a stranger came to her door with a request to use the restroom, then charged at her, grabbed her neck, and forced her down. She also alleged that he kicked her one-year-old daughter and ordered her to remove her clothes.

Torres’s effort to escape, call for help, and continue fighting was captured in part by cameras at the home. Those recordings also preserved the suspect’s drug statement and his claim that someone connected to Torres had arranged the encounter.

The same surveillance system that captured portions of the alleged attack ultimately helped police locate the suspect. Within a day, authorities had arrested Ayala, and the bizarre explanation heard at the home resurfaced through his attorney in court.
