A FlyDubai copilot accused of attacking his captain aboard a passenger jet bound for Israel allegedly intended to crash the aircraft at Ben Gurion Airport, according to new reports about the investigation.

The reported plan involved continuing toward Israel without signaling that anything was wrong.

Israeli broadcaster Channel 12 reported that Hamam al-Hammami told investigators he planned to keep FlyDubai Flight FZ1073 on its scheduled course.

He allegedly intended to obtain the clearances needed to approach Ben Gurion Airport before crashing into a building or another aircraft there.

The reported information came from investigations conducted by Saudi and Emirati authorities following the cockpit attack.

Israeli investigators have not directly questioned al-Hammami, according to reports from Channel 12 and the Israeli outlet Ynet.

That distinction leaves Israeli authorities relying on information emerging from the Saudi and Emirati inquiries rather than their own questioning of the accused copilot.

The investigation centers on an alleged terrorist act aboard a commercial flight carrying passengers from Dubai to Tel Aviv.

Fox News Digital contacted the UAE Public Prosecution and FlyDubai seeking confirmation of the investigative findings.

The source article did not include a response from either the prosecution or the airline regarding the latest allegations.

Reuters separately stated Monday that a source briefed on the UAE investigation said the Omani copilot had planned to crash the flight into Ben Gurion Airport.

The report offered another account of an alleged plan far more sinister than an isolated cockpit assault.

Two Israeli officials with knowledge of the investigation also told Reuters that al-Hammami discussed the alleged plan while being questioned.

According to those officials, he said he had planned the attack before FlyDubai hired him.

The latest details follow the dramatic incident aboard Flight FZ1073 the previous week.

The aircraft was traveling from Dubai to Tel Aviv when the copilot allegedly attacked the captain inside the cockpit, placing control of the passenger jet at the center of the struggle.

UAE Attorney General Hamad Saif Al Shamsi said investigators determined that the copilot attempted to carry out a terrorist act.

According to Al Shamsi, the suspect attacked the captain with a crash axe and attempted to seize control of the aircraft.

The captain identified in the source was Smit Machchhar, an Indian pilot who allegedly came under attack during the flight on Wednesday, Sept. 30, 2026.

The confrontation unfolded while the aircraft was heading toward Israel.

Passengers and other people aboard the flight eventually intervened during the cockpit emergency.

Their intervention was followed by the aircraft being diverted to Tabuk, Saudi Arabia, where it landed safely despite the violent events aboard.

Israeli passenger Haim Lazarovich was among those who experienced the emergency landing in Saudi Arabia.

He later arrived at Ben Gurion International Airport near Tel Aviv, Israel, on Wednesday, Sept. 30, 2026.

A FlyDubai aircraft carrying Israelis who experienced the emergency landing was also seen parked at Ben Gurion International Airport that day.

The aircraft had reached safety after the alleged cockpit attack and diversion to Saudi Arabia.

Al Shamsi has said the UAE investigation remains underway as authorities work to determine the full circumstances and motives behind the alleged attack.

Investigators are also examining whether the suspect had any potential links to other people.

The UAE Public Prosecution has said it will announce the final results after the necessary investigative procedures are completed.

Until then, the reported plot to strike Ben Gurion Airport remains part of an active investigation involving accounts from Saudi, Emirati and Israeli sources.

The allegations now extend beyond the violent confrontation inside the cockpit.

Reports from Channel 12 and Reuters describe an alleged plan to preserve the appearance of a normal flight long enough to approach one of Israel’s principal airports with the required clearances.
